Use Allergy Ladders

Allergy Ladders help you record a baby's staged food reintroduction, linked Solids exposures, reactions and reminders.

The app records a plan and your observations. It does not decide whether an exposure is safe or when to move to another stage. Follow advice from your child's qualified healthcare team.

Who this guide is for

  • Families recording an advised food-reintroduction plan.
  • Coaches who have permission to edit activities for a supported family.

Create a ladder

  1. Select the correct baby.
  2. Open Allergy Ladders from the family menu.
  3. Start a new ladder.
  4. Choose a blank custom ladder, the Milk preset or the Egg preset.
  5. Review and edit the ladder name, description, icon and stage details.
  6. Make sure there is at least one named stage, then save.

The presets contain five example stages, but their wording can be edited. They are not a fixed clinical plan.

Edit a ladder

Open the ladder editor to change its name, description, icon or stages. You can add or remove stages, but a ladder must always have at least one.

Existing stages keep their dates, progress, linked entries and reminders when they remain in the edited ladder. A newly added stage starts as Pending.

Before removing a stage, cancel any notification attached to it and review its linked Solids entries. Removing the stage does not cancel a notification already scheduled on the phone and does not delete those linked activities.

Record stage progress

Each stage can be:

  • Pending — not started;
  • In progress — started but not completed; or
  • Completed.

Choose Start to begin a stage, then Complete when appropriate. A stage must be started before it can be completed.

Use Edit dates to correct the start or completion time. Dates cannot be in the future, and completion cannot be earlier than the start.

Starting a later stage does not automatically complete earlier ones, so review the full ladder before changing progress.

Add a linked Solids exposure

  1. Open the stage.
  2. Choose Add solids exposure.
  3. Complete the Solids tracker entry for the same baby.
  4. Record a reaction or accidental exposure and its explanation when relevant.
  5. Save the activity.

The stage then shows linked Solids records, including their date, family note and Reaction, Accidental or No reaction status. Editing or deleting the activity later also changes what the ladder summary shows.

Set a stage reminder

  1. Open the stage reminder area.
  2. Choose a future date and time and add an optional note.
  3. Save the reminder and allow phone notifications if asked.

You can edit the time, mark the reminder Done, or cancel it. A reminder that has already appeared on the phone may continue to look scheduled in the ladder until you mark it Done, edit it or remove it.

Real notification delivery requires the supported mobile app. A browser can display reminder information but cannot send an operating-system notification.

If a coach schedules a reminder while viewing a family, it is scheduled on the coach's device, not the family's phone.

Reset one stage

Resetting one stage changes it back to Pending and clears its progress dates. Its linked Solids activities and reminders remain.

Reset the whole ladder

Whole-ladder reset cannot be undone. It returns every stage to Pending and permanently deletes every Solids activity linked to that ladder.

The reset does not cancel notifications already scheduled on the phone. Cancel ladder reminders first if they should no longer appear.

Remove a ladder

The Remove action archives the ladder so it disappears from the normal list. Its linked Solids activities remain. The current app does not offer a restore screen for archived ladders.

Removing a ladder does not cancel its phone notifications. Cancel stage reminders before removing it.

What coaches can do

An assigned coach can see a family's ladders when the support relationship allows activity viewing. Creating, editing, resetting or removing a ladder requires activity-editing permission. Coaches cannot keep access after the family relationship ends.

If something goes wrong

  • New ladder is unavailable: add or select a baby first.
  • A stage will not complete: start it before trying to complete it.
  • Dates will not save: check that they are not in the future and that completion follows the start.
  • A linked exposure is missing: confirm it was saved as Solids for the same baby, ladder and stage.
  • Reminder will not schedule: choose a future time and check phone notification permission.
  • A cancelled or removed reminder still fires: reopen the ladder and cancel any reminder still listed. If the ladder control is no longer available, temporarily disable app notifications in your phone settings and contact support.
  • Coach controls are unavailable: the coach may have read-only access or the support relationship may have changed.
